Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards is one of the biggest innovation and branding awards organization of Turkey, and organized with the collaboration of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Trade, the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and the Industrial Designers’ Society of Turkey (ETMK), within the framework of TURQUALITY® program. This year, 8th. Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards were presented in Haliç Congress Center on November 15th, 2019. In the award ceremony, which is organized within the scope of Design Week Turkey (DWT), students and graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design have been awarded. IUE Interior Architecture and Environmental Design graduates and founders of Wangan design office Kerem Özerler, Kutay Yorulmaz and Mert Can Uzyıldırım received the award of Good Design in the category of home furniture. IUE Industrial Design graduate Elvin Eril has also been awarded the Good Design Award in the category of packaging.
This year, DWT’19 held in Haliç Congress Center on November 14-17 with panels and conferences, exhibitions, workshops in the fields of industrial design, fashion, visual communication design, and architecture. Senior year Industrial Design student from IUE, Zeynep Pasinli, has been awarded the third prize in the 9th Turkey Home Textile Design Competition and her project was exhibited in Design Week Turkey. Furthermore, at the stage of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Department of Industrial Design 15 students project were exhibited under the theme of “Codesignings”. Student projects designed in the scope of university-industry collaboration with Kutahya Porcelain, outcomes of the workshop which was conducted in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, yacht design projects that gather Industrial Design and Interior Architecture Students and design solutions for smart cities were among these projects. Moreover, Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Dean Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun participated in the panel titled “Future of Design Education: In the Footsteps of Technology?”. Izmir University of Economics senior Industrial Design student Emin Serkut Yüksel was also a participant in a panel “Are you one of those who can't communicate?”.
